Tímea performed a great feat to win the total prize of $220,000 Monterrey Women's Tennis Tournament after beating the Romanian Alexandra Cadantu in two games.
The 18-year old Babos final won over Candantu with 1 hour 22 minutes battle to capture her first WTA tournament victory and reached her best result in her career ever.
She managed to take out some of the best players in the draw to reach her very first WTA final - among her victims en route were No.3 seed Sorana Cirstea and No.2 seed Sara Errani in Monterrey, México. Tímea Babos has taken a big jump forward to no. 68 on the world tennis ranking (single) and no. 131 (double).
Tímea Babos - Alexandra Cadantu 6:4 6:4
The Hungarian tennis player had one critical break of serve per set, and then she was maintaining the advantages along with confidence against her opponent. The second set up-to 4:4, the two players went head to head but Babos lifted her game higher one more time, never losing serve.
Tíme played a high-quality tennis and hit five aces while her hits from the baseline to rival's side were indefensible. "I do not know what to say, amazing feeling that I won my first WTA tournament" - said the happy winner from Sopron after she captured the first WTA title.
"I'm so glad to make it. This is a really new feeling. It feels amazing."
